This 1950s house needed a total rethink. nimtim have proposed a full width rear extension, with a kitchen/diner at current ground floor level, stepping down into an additional living space with built in seating providing views towards the rear gardens and South London’s skyscape beyond. A timber grid structure, reminiscent of nearby Segal houses and iconic Case Study Houses, stretches from interior to exterior; a restrained material palette is proposed throughout. The result will be a striking contemporary addition respectful of the original house.
Lewisham has recently granted planning permission and work will begin on site later in 2018.
