nimtim are happy to be a part of this year's PhotoMonth Photography Festival. We will be exhibiting a cyanotype by British photographer Joy Gregory in our studio window on Blackwater Street in SE22.

From her series Language of Flowers (1992-2004) this prints explore this popular ‘Victorian’ form of interaction in which every flower had individual meaning. Understood and used by a variety of people it was primarily for sending loved ones secret messages (or so romance would have us believe). This mode of expression faded into insignificances in less than 100 years the subtleties of its signs and symbols superseded each day by something new.

Joy Gregory's first major retrospective Catching Flies with Honey is on at Whitechapel gallery from 8 October 2025 – 1 March 2026
