We are so so excited that we can finally show our winning proposal for the public realm works as part of the Beacontree Centenary. We worked with the artist Katie Schwab on our ‘Squaring the Corners’ project which looks at joining four corner plots to recreate a new Civic Square. Each square suggests new activities and performs new functions by inviting residents to take ownership of them. The competition was run by RIBA London and Create London. image by Gilbert Leung.

This project beautifully reimagines corner spaces into vibrant community hubs. It’s inspiring to see how art and design can foster connection among residents, much like the engaging action in Killer Bean.

I love how this proposal transforms ordinary corner spaces into vibrant community hubs that encourage people to gather, interact, and shape the environment together. The idea of reconnecting the four plots into a shared Civic Square feels both creative and welcoming. When I look at the colorful layout and flowing pathways, it reminds me of the dynamic movement and exploration I enjoy in Slope Rider, where every turn opens up a new experience. I think projects like this show how thoughtful design can make neighborhoods feel more connected, playful, and alive.
